The Family of God's Partners in the Ministry

The Family of God's Partners in the Ministry

“My beloved brother, you act as a believer in everything you do for your fellow believers, even though they are strangers. They have testified to your love before the church. Well do you if you lead them on their way, as it pleases God” (3 John 1:5-6).

Bible Reading of the Year: 2 Chronicles 21-24

A pastor in the countryside once told a story about a simple family whose life was used by God in an extraordinary way. They are not a wealthy family. Their houses are small, and their income is mediocre. However, whenever a servant of God, an evangelist, or a ministry student came to their town, the family always opened the door of their home. They provide beds, warm food, and even makeshift transportation money. Their children helped serve guests with joy.

One day, someone asked the family head, “Why do you bother to serve others?” With a smile, he replied, “We may not be able to preach to many places, but we can be the Lord's sustaining hand to those who serve.” The answer is simple, but very profound. They understand that ministry is not just standing on the pulpit but also being God's partner by supporting His work.

That is what Gaius did in the letter of 3 John. The apostle John praised his faithfulness because he accepted and helped brothers and sisters who were in the ministry, even those he had not known before. It is considered an act that is “pleasing to Allah.” That is, God sees support for service as an important part of service itself.

Today, many people think of ministry only for pastors, evangelists, or church leaders. Every believer is called to be a partner of Allah. Some serve by preaching, some sustain with prayer, energy, attention, a home, even a cup of coffee and a plate of food. Don't underestimate small service. In God's eyes, small faithfulness can have a big impact on God's Kingdom. Heaven notices what humans often ignore. God is never blind to genuine love.

Here are three practical applications that we can do, namely:

First, support the Lord's servants with real love. Learn to be attentive to the needs of the Lord's servant, the Sunday school teacher, the missionary, or anyone else who serves. A small amount of support can strengthen them to remain faithful.

Second, make home and family a tool of service. Open your heart to help others. A home filled with love can be a place of recovery and strengthening for many.

Third, involve all family members in the ministry. Teach children to give, help, and serve from an early age. Family service done together will be a living testimony.

The ministry is not about who is the most famous, but who is most faithfully used by God. When we help God's work grow, we are actually God's partners in bringing His love to the world.

Prayer:

Loving Lord God, thank You for giving us the opportunity to be Your partners in the ministry. Teach us to have a generous, loving, and willing heart to help Your work. Use our family as a tool of blessing for many. Let every little action we do bring glory to Your name. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
