God’s Blessed Family
God’s Blessed Family
“Blessed is every man that feareth the LORD, that walketh in the way which he hath shown” (Psalm 128:1).
Bible Reading of the Year: 1 Chronicles 3-5
One day, a simple family was living on the outskirts of the city. They did not have abundant wealth, nor were their houses large. However, every morning before their activities, they always gather to pray and read God's words. When facing economic difficulties, they do not blame each other, but rather strengthen each other. Their children grow up with respect, not because they fear their parents, but because they see a real example of faith.
Surprisingly, despite their material limitations, this family is known as a family full of peace, joy, and love. People around them often say, “There's something different in that family.” That is the picture of a family that God blesses, not because of what they have, but because of whom they respect: God.
Psalm 128:1 affirms that the true source of happiness in the family is not wealth or social status, but rather “fearing the Lord” and living according to His ways. From a theological perspective, “fear of God” is not just fear, but reverence, submission, and total obedience to God's will. It is the spiritual foundation that determines the direction of family life. Without this foundation, families are easily shaken by conflict, ego, and life pressures.
There
are three practical applications that can be made to build a God-blessed
family:
First, build a family altar. Families need to set aside special time to pray and read the Lord's word together. It is not just a religious routine, but a means of spiritual formation that strengthens relationships with God and fellow family members.
Second, live in daily obedience. Fear of God must be reflected in real actions, honesty in work, patience in conflict, and faithfulness in responsibility. Consistent, small obedience will result in big blessings in the long run.
Third, to be an example of faith for family members. Parents, in particular, are called to be examples of living in faith. Children learn not only from what is taught, but from what they see every day. Exemplary is the most effective life curriculum.
In the end, a family that God blesses is not a trouble-free family, but a family that remains faithful to walk with God in the midst of all situations. God's blessings come in the form of peace, joy, and harmonious relationships, something that cannot be bought with any material.
Prayer:
Loving God, we are grateful for the
family You entrust to us. Teach us to live in the fear of You and to walk
according to Your will. Enable us to build a strong spiritual life in our
families, so that we may experience Your blessings every day. Make us a family
that glorifies Your name. In the name of the Lord Jesus, we pray. Amen.
