Bearers of Good News
Bearers of Good News
“And
how can they proclaim Him, if they are not sent? As it is written: ‘How
wonderful will be the arrival of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:15).
In the first century, early Christians lived under the pressure of the Roman Empire. They don't have grand church buildings, social media, or political protection. But they have something greater: hearts that are burned by the gospel of Christ. History records that when plagues swept through Roman cities, many people fled for fear of getting infected.
But believers remain to care for the sick, feed the hungry, and comfort the despair. It was from this act of love that the Gospel spread very quickly. They not only talk about Jesus, but also become bearers of good news through their lives.
The apostle Paul in Romans 10:15 declares: “What a wonderful coming of those who bring good news!” In the context of this verse, Paul is emphasising the importance of preaching the gospel. The world would not know Christ if no one were willing to go, speak, and testify. The good news of salvation is not to be kept alone, but to be shared with a hope-hungry world.
Being a bearer of good news does not mean that everyone has to be a great preacher in the pulpit. Some are called to preach the gospel through words, others through acts of love, service, comfort, and a life that reflects Christ. The world today is filled with bad news: war, hatred, moral crisis, and fear. Therefore, the presence of believers should bring peace, hope, and the light of Christ.
There are three practical applications that we can do as
bearers of good news, namely:
First,
dare to testify to Christ in daily life. Don't be shy about expressing your
faith to friends, family, or the work environment. A simple testimony of God's
help is often a door for others to come to know Jesus.
Second, use
the available media to spread God's word. In the digital age, a brief
devotional, a spiritual video, or a shared Bible verse can reach many souls.
Technology can be a gospel tool if used wisely.
Third, live as a reflection of the gospel. Compassion, forgiveness, honesty, and humility are the “sermons of life” that people can see every day. Sometimes the world reads our lives before they hear our words.
God is looking for people who want to be sent to be bearers of good news. Maybe we can't reach the whole world, but we can start from one soul around us. Because one piece of good news about Christ can change a person's life forever.
Prayer:
Loving
God, use our lives to bring good news to the world. Give us the courage to
testify, the wisdom to use every opportunity, and real love in our actions. Let
our lives be filled with love and salvation in You. In the name of the Lord
Jesus, we pray. Amen.
