The Strength Behind Knee Knees
The Strength Behind Knee Knees
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in all things make known your desires to Allah in prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
Bible Reading of the Year: Nehemiah 12-13
In the history of the church, Martin Luther is known not only as a reformation figure but also as a person who prayed very diligently. In the midst of great pressure from the church and rulers of his day, Luther did not rely solely on his theological intelligence or his debating skills. He believed that the greatest strength of a servant of God was born from kneeling before God.
There is a famous saying from Luther: “Today I am very busy, therefore I must spend more time praying.” For many people, busyness is often an excuse to reduce prayer. But for Luther, precisely because the challenges are getting bigger, prayer must be deeper. The church reform that later shook Germany and spread to various nations did not start from political power, but from a heart that earnestly sought God.
The Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:6–7 teaches that believers should not be overcome by worries, but rather bring everything to the Lord in prayer. Interestingly, Paul did not say that life would be trouble-free. Instead, he emphasised that in the midst of the pressures of life, there is peace of Allah that is able to protect the hearts and minds of believers.
Today's world is full of anxiety. Many people are strong in appearance, but fragile in heart. Some are smiling in public, but are secretly filled with fear about the future, family, economy, health, and service. God's Word reminds us that true strength is not always seen from a hard-working hand, but from a knee that is willing to kneel before God.
Prayer is not a sign of weakness. Prayer is proof that we are consciously in need of God. When man kneels before God, that is where heaven works with His power.
Here
are three practical applications that can be done:
First,
set aside a special time to pray every day. Don't let busyness steal your
personal relationship with God. A little time with God can give you great
strength to live your life.
Second, leave
your worries to God. Don't take it all on yourself. Learn to bring fears,
burdens, and struggles to the Lord through honest prayer.
Third, believing that God is working even though he is not visible. Prayer often works in secret. God can change hearts, open the way, and give peace even before things change.
Today, we may be facing an uphill battle. But remember: there is a great power behind the knee that is stubborn. When man relies on God, His peace will preserve our lives.
Prayer:
Loving Lord God, we come to You with all our worries and struggles. Teach us to remain faithful in prayer and to rely fully on You. Give us Your peace that surpasses all reason so that our hearts and minds remain strong in facing this life. In the name of the Lord Jesus, we pray. Amen.
