Strong When the Heart Starts to Get Tired

Strong When the Heart Starts to Get Tired

“He gives strength to the tired and adds encouragement to the helpless. The young men became weary and lethargic and stumbled, but those who waited upon the Lord gained new strength: they were like eagles that fly with the strength of their wings; they run and do not become weary, they walk and do not grow weary” (Isaiah 40:29-31).

Bible Reading of the Year: Job 5-7

Have you ever felt so tired that you wanted to give up? Not only physically tired, but tired emotionally. The prophet Elijah experienced such a situation. After winning a great battle against the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, Elijah fled because of Jezebel's threat. He sat under an arbour tree and prayed that God would take his life (1 Kings 19:4). A great prophet who was used by God in an extraordinary way also experienced fatigue, fear, and despair.

But God did not abandon Elijah. God strengthened him, fed him, gave him rest, and spoke to him in a gentle voice. From that story, we learn that God understands human weaknesses. He is not angry when His children feel tired. Rather, He came to restore and strengthen.

Isaiah 40:29-31 affirms that God is a source of strength for those who are exhausted. The world often teaches us to rely on our own abilities. But God's Word warns that even strong young people can become tired and stumble. Man's power has its limits, but God's power never runs out.

Waiting for God does not mean being passive without doing anything. Waiting for God means to keep believing, keep praying, keep hoping, and keep walking in obedience even though circumstances have not changed. When we put our hope in God, He renews our strength like an eagle flying high above a storm.

Practical applications that can be carried out, namely:

First, come to God honestly. Don't hide your heartache. Tell them all in prayer. God is able to understand the tears and struggles that others cannot understand.

Second, take time to rest in the presence of God. Read God's Word daily and make room for your soul to be restored. Spiritual strength grows through fellowship with God.

Third, keep moving even if it is slow. Sometimes God doesn't change things right away, but He gives us the strength to get through them. Keep walking with Him one step at a time.

When the heart starts to get tired, remember that God never runs out of power to help you. He who strengthened Elijah is also able to strengthen you today. Rely on Him, and you will find new strength to face each of life's challenges.

Prayer:

Father in heaven, thank you that You are the source of our strength. When our hearts are tired, when the burden of life feels heavy, help us to keep hoping in You. Renew our spirit, strengthen our faith, and enable us to continue walking in Your will. Teach us to wait for You faithfully. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
